The Captains’ meeting is an outdoor social event for all the raft race participants. It is held outdoors along the Connecticut River in the campground area of Portland Riverside Marine. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with the race committee and other rafters. Attendance is mandatory for all team Captains and all crew members are also encouraged to attend.
The main focus of the Captains' meeting is to receive entry forms, entrance fees, and hand out event information and materials. A Notary Public will be at the meeting to certify signatures on the entry forms and this will require two forms of identification. Your form can also be notarized at any bank or town hall prior to the meeting. Raft race T-Shirts, beverage koozies, and other rafting gear will also be available.
A collection of pictures, racecourse charts, and other materials will be on display so participants can get a feel for the event. This is also a great opportunity see the lay of the land by visiting the launch ramp and riverbank area where the rafts will reside on race day. Participants can also walk around the campground area to see where the post-race festivities will take place. Everyone should feel free to bring along a lawn chair, some snacks, and refreshing beverages to enjoy while engaging in pre-race comradery.
Pets are not allowed to ensure the safety of all participants, guests, spectators, and marina patrons.
